Square Four

Square Four is a governance, risk and compliance professional services firm based in central London, with around 30 people. It works with FCA-regulated firms and other regulated businesses, and was named ICA Compliance Consultancy Firm of the Year in 2024. The firm has been trading since 2021 and is bootstrapped.

It runs four business lines: advisory, interim resource, managed service and technology advisory. Advisory work covers consumer duty, regulatory assurance, client assets, complaints handling, financial crime and governance. Its technology arm, Assure 4, provides AI-enabled outcomes monitoring for firms that need continuous evidence of consumer outcomes rather than periodic reviews.

Its consultants are practitioners with backgrounds in direct delivery, consultancy and regulatory supervision. Client work spans banking, consumer credit, retail investments, general insurance and wholesale markets, with further engagements in telecommunications and utilities. The firm reports a net promoter score of 90.

Square Four refers risk, GRC and RCSA technology requirements to Initia, and we refer conduct, consumer duty and compliance framework work to them. Their sales team carries Initia collateral alongside their own advisory propositions. The two firms also co-publish, with reciprocal guest articles across both sites.
